Not just for the graduating class of 2007

I am in love with this inspirational speech by Steeve Jobs for the graduating Stanford class. When I read it, it truly made me wake up and listen and admire the man for the exuding enthusiasm and uncomplicated great philosophy in life.
In the same league, is this speech by Bill Gates for the graduating class at Harvard. He brings in a different perspective to success, a service to humanity and the bridging of inequity at a time when we all are just so self centered and living in our world, provided for by others, and who are these others doesn't seem to matter, as long as we are provided for.
Truly Men of great vision and real life examples for the young generation. Attune to the time, needs, dogmas and visions of our times.

When Social arrangements are taken for granted....

.... There comes an exception, every once in a while. And more seldom, the ripple is caused by a woman.

I was so impressed when i read about Catharine Drew G Faust... the new Harvard University President. She was raised to be a rich man's wife and she ended up as the president of the most powerful university in the world. While her brothers went to Princeton, she could not because Princeton did not admit women in the 1960's!!! But she managed to thrive in a world where women were second class citizens (and arguably still are). But she says her secret was one step at a time. She did things she thought she couldn't ever do.

I relate to that realism. Its amazing how much people have achieved in a lifetime. And how for some people, there is never any such meaning associated with life.
